Mustard. Tips to remove Mustard stains on clothes and fabrics

Mustard is one tough stain to get out when you have it on your fabrics or clothing. The first thing you need to do is blot the mustard or scrape off as much as you can without spreading the stain out further.

Mustard includes food coloring, which is a dye that you should work with carefully.

Soak your garment in bucket of water and bleach if your garment can handle the bleach.  All fabric color safe bleach can be used if need be. Only soak your garment for about ten to fifteen minutes.

Use some clear liquid detergent and pour over the mustard stained area.  Be sure to rub the detergent in with your fingertips or a soft brush.  Continue to soak in the water and bleach mixture for another ten minutes.

Rinse the garment thoroughly and treat with a pre stain treatment if the stain remains on the fabric.  Let the garment stand for about ten minutes and then rinse with water again.

You can also use a mixture of oxyclean and water making a thick paste.  Put this paste over the stained area for about fifteen minutes and then rinse good with water.  Inspect the area again for trace remains of the mustard stain.

If you continue to have a mustard stain, put the fabric stain side down on a towel or paper towel covered surface.  Apply a few drops of dry cleaning fluid on the mustard stained area.  Let this dry and then launder again.

If you are really striking out getting this mustard stain out of the fabric, use color stripper for fabrics, to take all the color out of your fabric or garment and then you can re dye the material whatever shade you would like.
