Chocolate. Tips to remove Chocolate stains on clothes and fabric

Chocolate stains on your fabric can be gotten out using these cleaning methods. It is important to treat the stain as soon as it happens. If you have missed the stain and it went through the dryer it can be very difficult to clean out that set in chocolate stain.

Pre treat the chocolate stained area with a stain stick or stain spray.  Let this sit on the stain for about ten or fifteen minutes.

Apply a generous amount of laundry detergent to the chocolate stain. Rub the detergent in with your fingers or a soft scrub brush.  Work it in and you will see the stain lifting as you do this.

Launder or rinse the fabric well.  Re inspect the stained area to ensure that the stain is completely gone.

If you find that you still have some stain left from the chocolate in your fabric:

Using a bucket of cool water, soak the fabric in water with all fabric powder bleach.  You should only need to soak the fabric for about ten or fifteen minutes to see the best results.  Rinse well in cool water.

If the chocolate stains still have not come out, treat the area by applying liquid laundry detergent to the stained area and then soak in a bucket of water with liquid bleach. About two cups for three gallons of water is all that you really need.

Let the fabric soak for about ten minutes and rinse out the fabric well.  Inspect the stained area once again to make sure that the chocolate stain is all gone.

One option that you do have is to use a color stripper and strip all color from the fabric and then you can re dye it again if you have a set in chocolate stain that wont come out.  Most all-home centers, and the largest of supermarkets will carry products that will do this if you want to really save the fabric and get rid of the stain at the same time.

And if you don't have a stain stick? Comments By: Jay Stewart on 2007-04-04
If you spill chocolate on your clothes and you don't have time to wash immediately, do you soak in cold water until you can wash? Should you wash stains in cold or hot water?
