Silly putty stains use WD-40. Alternate method for Silly-Putty removal

Submitted by WD-40 Fan

If the surface affected by the offending blob of putty is not sensitive to petroleum distillates:

*Remember to spot-test these substances in an out-of-sight place to make sure it won't cuase a bigger problem than that glob of Silly-Putty!

  1. Scrape away excess putty with a butter knife.
  2. Spray liberally with WD-40 lubricant and scrape again. Repeat until any remaining putty is removed. The WD-40 will also remove the remaining stain.

DO NOT SMOKE OR DO THIS NEAR BURNING CANDLES OR OPEN FLAMES! THE WD-40 IS HIGHLY FLAMMABLE! ALLOW PLENTY OF VENTILATION!

  3. Apply a "finishing" rinse of isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol, blotting the area to remove as much of the WD-40 as possible.

    Allow to air-dry well.
