Lipstick out of white shirt

Before throwing away two white polo shirts that my twin girls had wiped RED lipstick on, I asked my mother-in-law if there was any hope for them. We coated the stains with white toothpaste, scrubbed with our fingernails, then rinsed and sprayed the stains with hairspray, then scrubbed with our fingernails. 

Finally a little dab of bleach finished the job.. It sounds like a lot, but it only took about 5 minutes. I don't know which step helped the most or not at all - but I did end up with two stain-free shirts.
