Oil Paint. Tips to remove Oil Paint stains on upholstery

Working around the house sometimes means that you will be working with oil paints. Oil paints are also used in modeling and in crafting.

If you have spilled a large amount of oil paint, you will need a spoon or butter knife to scrape up as much of the excess oil paint as you can.Blot with a paper towel if need be to get all the excess liquid off of the upholstery so you can focus on just that stain.

Using rubbing alcohol, wet a cotton ball or paper towel and dab at the area where the oil paint stain is. You need to remember to keep changing your towel/ cotton ball, and rewetting so that you can dab at the stain with a clean towel.

Repeat until you are unable to bring out any more colors or the stain is gone. Apply a few drops of dry cleaning solution to the oil stained area on the upholstery.

Just a few drops! And then blot off with a few papers towels to remove the moisture. Continue doing this as you bring out more of the oil paint stain.

If you still find some paint coloring left in the upholstery, make a solution of water and clear bleach free liquid detergent and spray this on the stained area.

Blot the moisture out using a clean towel.Repeat if you are bringing more paint coloring out of the upholstery. Rinse the upholstery using a clear water spray.Spray the upholstery, blotting and repeating until you have removed the entire paint coloring from the upholstery leaving you with a clean look.

Make a mixture of vinegar and water, using a half and half solution to rinse the upholstery.

Spray on the oil paint stained area, blotting to bring out any remaining coloring from the paint, or suds from the detergent.
